The Jaco Report, Ep. 5: Dave Leipholtz from Better Together says city-county merger would benefit city residents

The Better Together plan that would unify St. Louis city and county into one metro-city of 1.3 million people would get rid of the city’s earnings tax and would not allow city residents to vote for their own “municipal district” mayor and lawmakers, unlike county towns and cities. But Better Together spokesman David Leipholtz tells The Jaco Report that the plan does not discriminate against city residents. Leipholtz says unifying 55 local police departments into one metro-city department would lead to more professional law enforcement for city residents. He also says it would eventually mean more money for city schools by controlling property tax breaks given to businesses.
