ST. LOUIS (AP) — An 8-year-old girl was killed and three other people were injured in a shooting near Soldan High School on Friday night.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the shooting happened about 8 p.m. Friday outside Harold’s Chop Suey restaurant, 1122 Union Blvd. in the Academy neighborhood.
Police Chief John Hayden said the girl, identified as Jurnee Thompson, and her family had attended a football exhibition about a block away at Soldan High. Hayden said that fights had broken out at the event and that police had tried to clear the area when shots rang out.
The injured included two 16-year-old boys and a woman, 64. Hayden said “two or three” of those people were related.
Their names had not been released. Hayden said several people were detained for questioning.
