Surveying begins at soccer stadium site

ST. LOUIS – Surveying has begun on part of the proposed site of the new MLS soccer stadium.

The project’s footprint is being expanded to approximately 30 acres, encompassing land that is almost all currently undeveloped. The site will include the area north of Market Street between 20th and 22nd streets, with a Downtown West District of mixed-use retail, restaurants and gathering spaces planned around the stadium itself.  This new urban hub will extend the Gateway Mall and help direct it north and south.

Team offices and a training facility will be south of Market, immediately west of Union Station.

The stadium will seat 22,500 and may also host other events such as concerts, high school and collegiate sporting events and tournaments, soccer camps and family shows.
