City, county libraries close all locations

The St. Louis Public Library has closed all 16 locations until further notice. The library system announced the closures as of 6 p.m. Monday, in an effort to help limit the spread of coronavirus. The library has no definite date on which it will reopen to the public.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis County library system has also closed all 20 of its locations. They will remain closed to the public through at least April 3 but could stay closed longer if necessary, the library says on its website.

Due dates on materials will be extended during the closure. All holds will be left in place until the library reopens. Patrons are asked to keep materials at home until the library reopens. Book drops will not be available during the closure.

During the health crisis, people can access many library resources online. Included in those resources are eBooks, audiobooks, streaming content such as movies, TV shows and music, digital magazines, online classes and more.

Staff is home to The NorthSider and The SouthSider weekly community newspapers. The SouthSider publishes 25,000 copies every Tuesday. The NorthSider publishes 25,000 copies every Thursday. They are distributed at over 600 locations across St. Louis.
