Week’s worth of school grab-and-go meals available Friday

ST. LOUIS – Students and families who have been picking up the public school district’s free grab-and-go meals every day can now pick up a week’s worth of food every Friday.

The St. Louis Public Schools announced that starting today, Friday, April 17, the program is changing to weekly rather than daily service, to minimize social contact and thus the threat of infection from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Each Friday, families can pick up a meal kit with food for seven days; pickup sites will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. No student ID is required, and the kits will be distributed either outside the school or in its gym.

The school district said via Twitter: “Reduced contact, fewer trips = easier and safer for you and our food services team. Help us spread the word!”

A complete list of the sites where families can get the food can be found at the district’s website at slps.org/meals
