ST. LOUIS – With her daughter, son and grandson — all socially distanced in her living room in north St. Louis — Mary George celebrated 50 years of service at Boeing on Zoom with colleagues.
Her boss, Derek Anderson, refused to allow stay-at-home orders to shut down the beloved George’s semicentennial milestone this week.
As George sat at her computer with a bouquet of flowers – safely delivered without social contact – in her lap, several Boeing employees from managers to mentees lauded George and her illustrious tenure.
Like many of George’s colleagues, her daughter, Joletta, expressed gratitude and respect for her mother. George’s son, Joe, a gifted singer, serenaded her with warm sentiments while her grandson, Rashad, blew his through a saxophone.
In turn, George said she was grateful for all of the love and support over the years from the workplace that helped her to raise her family.
