City will give businesses PPE, more loans as reopening nears

CITY HALL – Small businesses are getting some extra help from the city to make sure that their employees and customers stay safe as we reopen. In a virtual press conference Wednesday on Zoom, Mayor Lyda Krewson and License Collector Mavis Thompson explained plans to provide city businesses with masks and gloves, and also additional funds.

The mayor’s office issued a press release on its website giving guidance on the PPE supplies.

To be eligible, a small business must be located in the city and have no more than 10 on-site employees. Sole proprietors are also eligible. Here’s the link to apply:

Businesses will have to pick up their equipment at one of these sites on Thursday, Friday or Monday:

  • 1408 N. Kingshighway Blvd. (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
  • 3115 S. Grand Blvd. (10 a.m.–2 p.m.)
  • 1520 Market St. (9 a.m– 4 p.m.)
