Age: 41
Neighborhood: College Avenue
Occupation: Caregiver
Political Experience: I am president of the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement, and a member of the African People’s Socialist Party. I started organizing with the protests around the police murder of Mike Brown. I have organized to keep 28 wards and build economic development in the Black community.
Your take on crime: Crime is a result of the economic conditions in our community. In addition, I believe we have to have the political will to change our approach to one of building economic development in the Northside as a way to fight crime. Where there is poverty there is crime.
Your take on city finances: The budget is heavily weighted for police, and this proves that we are not focused on economic development in the areas of greatest need.
Your take on the city’s COVID-19 response: I would like to see a real educational approach to necessary guidelines to follow. TV commercials sponsored by the city might be of great use.
