Annie Malone Children & Family Services was recently awarded a $2.7 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
The federal agency is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It works to improve the quality and availability of treatment and rehabilitative services for people combating substance abuse and/or mental illness. The goal is to reduce illness, death and disability among individuals, and also reduce the cost to society resulting from those problems.
Sara Lahman, Chief Executive Officer of Annie Malone, said in a statement: “This grant will fund a substance abuse intensive outpatient program for local youth and their families. Fewer than 20 awards were made across the entire country – this is important work, and we’re ready to provide the community with yet another critical service.”
